By now I assume everyone must have seen DON

Even before it got release I had this feeling that "DON" will be a huge HIT. Sleek promos and the very presence of SRK made me feel that. (Mind you, I am not a DIE-HARD SRK fan, but I do know what’s his stature in BOLLYWOOD)

Right from the day one of shooting, people have been busy comparing it with the old classic cult AB starrer DON. No doubt, the two films can not be compared for the sheer reason that they are made in two different time zones, AB's DON was all about Charisma and style while SRK's is all about techniques and special effects.

I went to see the first day first show of DON. Right from the first scene I knew Farhan has not worked hard on this movie. The very first dialogue SRK mouthed on his cell "DON" reminded me of the famous BOND dialogue "The name is BOND, James Bond".

It was refreshing to see, as the movie moved, that though most of dialogues from AB's DON were used, they were mouthed very differently. Thanks to SRK.

But here ends all the improvisation whatever Farhan thought he did. Whatever improvisation, (he called it so) was nothing but a small gimmick. He knew audience must be screening old DON in their mind while watching the new one. And that’s where he played smart. He made those smart (he thought so) twists to make people think this DON is different. But any die hard Bollywood fan (I consider my self amongst the biggest) would have guessed the climax even before interval. I don’t understand the use of brains and to add such gimmicks while making remake (if you change it ...how come it is a remake)

I think if he wanted to use his brains to give those twists, he should not have remade DON, rather made a new original movie. But on another front I think this was very wise commercial move on his part, as it kind of ensured movie's success.

All in all, the movie is and will be liked by all die hard SRK fans and the younger generation who has not grown up watching AB's DON, because people like me (die hard fan of AB's 70's movies) will definitely give thumbs down to this "NEW IMPROVED INTERNATIONAL DON"
